Inside Little House

This is the inside of my little house where I am staying in San Marcos. It is the guest house of Casa de Diane. Diane and her two incredible daughters, Sage and Spirit, live here in San Marcos.

Diane is an artist. She teaches therapeutic art. Sage and Spirit are sprites who live in a treehouse. They come down from the heights just long enough each day to cook incredible Guatamalan meals for which I am very greatful. I actually think I may be gaining back a bit of the weight I lost in the last couple of months before I left the States.

This is the path that leads to the little casa. It is a beautiful garden and a great place to relax – just what I needed.

Again, my apologies for the brevity of this post – but I did get one up. 🙂

So the real adventure begins. Good stuff, Gar. Looking forward to reading more about your experiences. And watch that weight stuff – you could balloon up if you’re not careful. Hmmm. Maybe that wouldn’t be a bad thing LOL>

Hi Rob, I lost so much weight the last couple of months I’d have to eat 24 hours a day to get too much over weight, especially from the food here. It is healthy but not a lot of fat content. But I’ll keep trying. 🙂

Glad to see your feet are on the ground, and Spanish classes are a great way to start your trip.
Watch out for that good food – look at the women down here in Central America – not many of the older women are skinny.
Don’t worry about the short posts – less words used well convey just as good a message.
Get those cobwebs out and learn!
    Play nice and travel safely.
    Cheers!

Cobwebs! Man you said it. Today begins my second week of class. I should be looking forward to it but I’m not. Fortunately after this one everything closes down for the holidays so I will have time to reassess. I’m thinking I need to change something. Maybe just my attitude. We will see.

The food is a lot like Mexican food but not much meat at all in anything. When there is meat, it is usually pollo (chicken.) A lot of rice, beans, tortillas, onions, chilies and lots and lots of fresh vegetables. Eggs are also used a lot on things sometimes like tostadoes but always very sparingly. Meat and eggs are really expensive here. Chicken cost about $2 a pound. That is a LOT of money here.

I’ll see if I can get a shot or two. The kids don’t really live there. They just stay there most of the time during the day. It is their “private place.”

Hi Morgan, It is good to hear from you. Sure wish I had a cup of your good latte. There is good coffee here but so far I haven’t found any except perked or (ugh) instant.
