Why They Want To Censor You

“if your ideology experiences the free speech of others as existential threat, your ideology sucks.”

ASTORIA, NYC- I recently published a post about what could be called the anti-freedom, neo-authoritarian, etc movement in the USA. It started when someone I know was offended by a tattoo that I have that says “freedom,” associating it with conservative politics:

I was confused for a moment. I actually received the tattoo when I was a far-left teenage anarchist and I never thought of freedom as being a politically polarized concept. Doesn’t everyone, regardless of ideological affiliation, like freedom?

No, no they don’t.

After I realized this so much began falling into place about social movements that appear dedicated to restricting civil liberties and silencing those who have opinions, beliefs, and lifestyles that run contrary to their own.
I initially interpreted this to be a simple move to limit the reach of ideological competitors and to preserve the fragile psyches of snowflakes who have difficulty handling words and opinions that they don’t like. But there was something very important that I was missing.
el gato malo helped with that:

the simple fact is this:

if your ideology experiences the free speech of others as existential threat, your ideology sucks.

it’s not real.

it’s not valid.

it’s not defensible.

if it were, you would no be so terrified of what someone else might say if you allowed them any license to voice an opinion.

their entire ideology relies upon suppressing dissenting views and being the only one talking in order to make itself seem like a legitimate majority when the fact of the matter is that is it neither.

and that’s about to become crystal clear.

this whole movement is predicated on no one being allowed to question it. it simply defines its own core salients as “non-interrogatable” and then demands to deconstruct all else in a game of “punch no punchbacks” that is critical to its survival because if there is one thing that woke cannot do, it’s take a punch.

The viewpoints of the anti-freedom movement, woke, whatever you want to call it are generally baseless — they often don’t hold up to the scrutiny of science, logic, or even common sense. Positions such as men can get pregnant, that there is a such thing as a female penis, and that anyone can be a women are difficult to defend if the person you’re talking with isn’t drinking the kool-aid. As were Covid policies such as masks, social distancing, and lockdowns … So rather than risking public debate where they would more than likely come out on the losing end, they seek to go upstream and simply turn off the torrent of contending viewpoints. To escape having to defend their positions, define their terms, or even at a basic level explain the reasoning behind what it is they want all of society to walk in step with, they censor, de-platform, and cancel.

The anti-free speech movement is essentially a form of ideologically self-preservation.

It many ways, it’s like a faith. You either believe it or you don’t … and if you don’t believe it you are the enemy and need to be excommunicated, gagged and bound, burned at the stake. In order to survive, undefendable positions need to be elevated above debate, and the only way to do this is to restrict the freedoms of those who disagree make dissent the hallmark of the Bad Guy.

    “Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. ”

The first thing the forefathers protected…. who would have expected the press to become part of the cabal running the country?

Yes, that constitution is a little inconvenient for them. No wonder they want to get rid of it 🤣

And like a religion you don’t actually have to believe. You just have to talk the talk. There is tremendous power and control in that.

That’s true in most cases. You can walk away, avoid people, or ignore the noise. However, we’re getting into the realm of compelled speech — people being forced, sometimes by law (such as in Canada), to say things they don’t want to say, don’t agree with, or don’t believe is true. That’s some real Inquisition shit.

Also, this chatter is also seriously driving public policy. Some politicians and corporations seemed to think that platforms like Twitter represented the dominant opinion in America … and they fell flat on their face over and over because it was delusion created by the removal of contending voices.

On another note, Twitter is a completely different place now. It’s actually fun and full of humor and a multitude of opinions now.
