Tips for Traveling With Jewelry

How to keep your jewelry safe and clean when traveling the world.

Girl on car

Every frequent traveler knows how daunting traveling with jewelry can be. Necklaces get tangled, rings get misplaced and earrings get separated from their pair. So if you want to be stylish on your trip but don’t want to waste time untangling your bling, here are a few solutions that will make traveling with jewelry safe and easy.

Use a roll organizer

The simplest way to travel with jewelry is to grab a roll organizer. This type of organizer is cheap and practical, and it allows you to pack all your jewelry in separate compartments to prevent tangling. It’s also a perfect solution for those who like to travel light since it won’t take up a lot of space, even if you only have a carry-on. A roll organizer packs easily into any suitcase, and once you arrive, you can unroll it and hang it up in your hotel room so you have all your jewelry on display while accessorizing your outfits.

Travel with a jewelry box

Jewelry boxes are a classic yet practical way to organize your jewelry while traveling since they provide both organization and protection for valuable items and moissanite rings. If you have a larger suitcase, this is probably your perfect solution, since all your pieces will be safely tucked away in a sturdy box that will withstand all that luggage tumbling. However, if you only have a carry-on, you might struggle with space, so jewelry boxes also have their cons.

Keep precious items in a pouch

If you have some precious gems or other pieces of jewelry that you want to keep especially safe, grab a soft pouch. More exclusive items like gemstones from Moon Magic all deserve special treatment since you don’t want to risk anything happening to your precious possessions. Also, these gems are all super sturdy and hard and can easily overpower other items and even damage them, so they are best kept in their own protective pouch. These pouches can be bought in stores or online for a very affordable price, but you can also make your own at home with some soft fabric and a bit of rope.

Grab a pill case for a DIY option

If you’re a thrifty traveler, you don’t have to spend money on special jewelry organizers. Just grab your bigger seven-day pill box and place your jewelry in small compartments. If you love to stay extra organized and prepared, you can even arrange your accessories by day and plan out your outfit head to toe.

Use a soft towel

Another way to make an at-home roll organizer is to grab a small soft towel. Arrange your jewelry neatly on your towel, roll it up and tie it at the ends with some rope—voila, you have yourself an easy DIY roll organizer for your jewelry pieces!

Keep it tight with vacuum

If you have a vacuum machine at home, you can use it to seal all your jewelry before your trip. Plastic seals are a great solution for keeping necklaces from tangling and a jewelry box since they will keep everything in place no matter how bumpy your trip gets. To pull this off, grab one plastic seal, place your accessories, cover with another and press it down—it’s that simple.

Thread necklaces through straws

If you have some reusable straws lying at home, use them to keep your necklaces and bracelets organized. Insert half of the necklace/bracelet into the plastic straw and the firm plastic will keep it in place and protection from scratches and tangles.

There you go, a few solutions for you to try out next time you’re traveling. You can freely forget about tangled necklaces, damaged items and misplaced valuables and you can be sure you’ll always look stylish at your destination.
