The production quality is really what stands out about The Basement. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like you’re in a horror movie, this is the closest you’re going to come while still staying safe. The room has the look and feel of a real horror movie set and the videos and audio that accompany the story are Hollywood quality.

The Basement is more accurately described as an escape “scenario” because it’s actually compromised of three rooms, each of which is a chapter in the story of a cannibalistic serial killer. You and your team move through the room finding clues and solving puzzles in order to escape with your lives. Mr. X Escape Rooms is a franchise, with multiple locations across Asia, but the rooms with the best reviews are all in the Shanghai location. Many escape room locations offer multiple rooms and scenarios, and Mr. X’s is no exception. Their Shanghai location boasts twelve different scenarios for escapees to try. Each scenario requires all the brainpower and deductive reasoning you’ve got.
