Perhaps I am a sucker for a good street side show where a man sets up a little table, starts yelling and screaming, and then puts on a little show to sell some kind of miraculous gadget.

I am reminded of the old stories of wandering Chinese medicine vendors who would put on martial arts shows in the streets to attract a crowd to buy their miracle cures.

If a man yells in the street, I watch him.

Well this fellow in Sultanahmet was yelling his head off about some sort of gadget, so I listened. Looking down on his table I saw a row of rolled sticks that I initially took to be some odd sort of cigars. But they were rolled with grape leaves, not paper, and filled with rice, not tobacco.

I cannot say that I was as interested anymore, but I watched anyway.

This is a gadget to roll anything in a grape leaf.
