However, bypassing this lovely town could be a mistake, as there is a lot to do and see there, and it could make your trip complete. The area has some of the most gorgeous crystal-clear waterways, like lakes and rivers, making it the perfect place to go kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Haliburton isn’t just about the great outdoors – it’s also well-known for being a home to arts and culture, and there’s a fun artistic community in the town. Once you start looking around, you’ll notice that there are lots of studios and art galleries dotted about, where you can enjoy browsing the work of local artists – and, of course, you can buy some to take home with you if you want to as well. If you visit the town in July, you’ll be able to visit the famous Haliburton Art and Craft Festival, which takes place outside and where you can see some amazing talent on display.
As well as art, there’s a lot of history linked to Haliburton, and the area is keen to let people know about it, which means you can visit places like special heritage sites and museums (one in particular that visitors love is the Haliburton Highlands Museum which provides a fascinating glimpse into the past).

One of the best things about visiting Haliburton is that you’ll have the opportunity to stay in a gorgeous cabin right in the heart of the most beautiful landscapes. Haliburton cabin rentals are a must when you want to stay in the town, as you’ll be treated to the most comfortable surroundings no matter whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family trip, or a solo escape from the world for a little while.
Many cabins in Haliburton are in secluded spots, making them perfect for when you want some peace and quiet, but you’ll also be able to easily get into town when you want to, so you won’t have to miss out on anything.

Something else exciting about visiting Haliburton is the great food on offer. The town actually has quite the culinary scene, and once you start digging deeper, you’ll find your taste buds can’t wait to get started. The wonderful thing is that many of the restaurants take pride in sourcing their ingredients locally, so whatever you’re eating, it’s likely to have ingredients that are as fresh as possible, with homegrown vegetables and meat from local farms. Plus, a lot of the produce will be homemade, like cheese, butter, preserves, and so on, making it even more special and unique.
When you’re eating, you’ll probably want something to drink as well, and Haliburton doesn’t disappoint on that front either. You can quench your thirst with a visit to one of the region’s many craft breweries or wineries and enjoy a tasting session of local drinks – and your surroundings are sure to be delightful too, making the experience an even better one.
To cap it off, you’ll be able to join in with one of the many food festivals that take place in Haliburton through the year. These festivals celebrate everything from maple syrup to wild game, and they’re a great way to get to know the local culture and taste some new flavors at the same time.
