Plane Crash in Buffalo

Last night, my brother in law, Rory, asked me to help him find a cheap flight from Western NY to San Diego, CA. So I went through the usual rounds of bargain flight sleuthing, and came up with a dirt cheap ticket on Continental Airlines. I advised him to buy it.

This morning, I received an email from an old friend who is the editor of a Buffalo newspaper notifying me that a Continental flight had crashed near the city.

Email from editor:

“In light of yesterday’s horrific plane crash in Western New York (about 15 minutes from my home or 10 miles) I wanted to share with you one of the photos my managing editor took (he’s an emergency responder/ firefighter who was on the scene as well as a journalist). It appeared on CNN.com. You can see the Bee photo credit on the left side, bottom, of the picture. He and another coworker are being interviewed for CNN and Fox news channels at 3 and 4 p.m. today.”

Part of the return flight that I picked out for Rory was pretty much the same one that crashed. I suppose my sister is not going to be too happy with me.

I suppose there was a reason why this flight was so cheap.
