Miami Travel Guide: What to do & Where to stay

How to get the most out of your travels to Miami.

Miami

Miami is known as the ‘Magic City’ and the nickname perfectly suits its title. There’s nowhere as enchanting as Miami. Famous for cruises, South Beach, Cuban food, and wild clubs and parties, Miami is a wild and eclectic city. It is where you go for fun in the sun.

This travel guide to Miami will give you a list of my favorite tips on what to see, where to stay!

What to do in Miami

1) No visit to Miami is complete without a stop at the historic 50-acre Vizcaya estate. This European-style mansion offers a glimpse at life in turn-of-the-century South Florida.

2) Enjoy the Beach beside the famous South Beach, there are lots of pristine beaches around Miami. Other great beaches include Virginia South Beach, Haulover Beach (the only legal nude beach), and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. South Beach is where the celebrities hang out and the beautiful people come to relax. It’s also lined with sandy beaches, is a nightlife hub, and is Miami’s shopping center, so it must not be missed.

3) Go to Monkey Island – Along with Zoo Miami and Seaquarium, Monkey Island is Miami’s premier natural attraction. Its walkways allow visitors to get as close as possible to primates who are free to swing through the park’s trees.

4) There is a very active nightlife in Miami, and if you like clubs, Miami is one of the best places in the world to go clubbing. Check out E11even, LIV Miami, or Basement.

Budget Hotels in Miami – It is not difficult to find budget hotels here, during the peak season the hotel prices are rocket high but in the off-season, budget rooms start at a decent price. There are lots of OYO hotel options in Miami.

The hotel that I liked best in Miami is the Riviere South Beach Hotel. The hotel is situated close to the beach and the rooms are spacious with a lot of amenities like free Wi-Fi, Laundry service, Parking Facility, Reception, Daily Housekeeping, Bath Tub, Card Payment, Attached Bathroom, First Aid, Refrigerator, Mirror, CCTV Cameras around the premises.

Or you can always rent a vacation home in Miami. This will put you directly where the people are and in the heart of the action.

Take a fun ride – Miami is one flat biking town, and there’s no better way to explore it than by grabbing a bike by the handles.

Just grab a bike and ride it until your time runs out. This is a great way to get from place to place in the Miami sun. There are even a couple of guided bike tours by the beach if you feel like tagging along with a group.

Top off your fun weekend getaway with a quiet moment at the beach. South Point Park is the best place in Miami to enjoy the sunset. Take your camera for a late afternoon photo shoot. It‘s a picturesque spot, with walkways, benches, and green spaces that look out over the Gulf.

Miami is buzzing with a restaurant scene with a visit to a sizzling steakhouse on the South Beach’s Art Deco-bedecked promenade, or maybe tuck into a crusty pizza freshly fired from a brick oven in Sunset Harbour. Other highlights include seafood platters downtown, daily specials at artisanal bakeries in Wynwood, and Peruvian ceviche in Coconut Grove.
