Travel from Sosua to Cabarete Introduction

The beach town of Cabarete lays around 15 km east of Sosua on the north coast of the Dominican Republic.

How to travel from Sosua to Cabarete

It is easy to travel between these two towns.

From Sosua, the best way to Cabarete is to take a public taxi (a publico) from either the designated stand or just wait on the south side of the main highway (Rt 5) and flag one down as it passes.

To travel from Cabarete to Sosua, just stand on the north side of the main street and wave when you see a public taxi pass, jump in when it stops, and go.

The publicos are the taxis that have triangular signs on their roofs. They travel the same route back and forth and pick up passengers along the way. They are often crowded – expect 6 to 8 other passengers — but are comfortable enough and cheap.

Price

The cost of a publico taxi between Sosua and Cabarete is 20 pesos. Just get in the taxi and hand this amount up to the driver.
