Gearing Up Smart: Essential Tech for the Manaslu Circuit Trek

What you need to go trekking.

Trekking

Everybody chatters about the beauty and charm of treks like Manaslu Circuit Trek, but the part that they leave out is how hard it is to get there.

You may have claims like, “You need to trek for days, or you need to be careful not to get lost!” Well, everyone says this, but can words fully describe the difficulties? Is there a cheat code for such difficulties?

Come on now! We’re nearly touching 2025, and everything has cheat codes. For a successful trip, the cheat code lies in your packing! So, come along and learn what are these cheat codes or in other words, must-haves that you need on your way to Manaslu Circuit Trek.

Tools for Navigation

Yes, yes, we know that the Manaslu Circuit Trek is a well-trodden trek, but does it mean you can let your guard down?

Of course not!

No matter how well the paths are paved for you, it just takes a single bad step to stray you from your path. So, make sure to carry the following:

Geographical Positioning System (GPS): In these kinds of remote areas GPS is a must-have thing. You can buy tools like Garmin GPS or download apps like Gaia GPS. And If not these, the least you can do is make sure to turn your location ON on your mobile and download an offline map, so in the worst-case scenario, you can at least find your way.

Smartwatches: Smart watches are just a cherry on top in such places. Smartwatches can serve multiple purposes like tracking heart rate, counting steps, or tracking your position through GPS. So, if you can, take a smartwatch with you.

Charging Devices

Surely, you understand that you won’t get an outlet out in the wild. And you need something to charge your devices, right? Consider the following for such problems:

Power Bank: Well, these days, we need to have our gadgets fully charged to survive in the wild. And in the wild, the more power you have, the better, but you can’t carry something that’s too heavy as well, right? You need a proper balance! A (20,000mAh or 25,000mAh) is your way to go, as it is right around the sweet spot where the power bank doesn’t get too heavy to carry or too weak to charge your devices.

Solar Charger: Ah, Solar chargers; light, easy to carry, and a clean source of energy. Not a lot of power sources can compete with these small cells. With these, you can stop wherever you spot the sunlight and charge your devices.

Mountains

Communication Devices

Always remember, your safety takes priority, especially in remote places like the Manaslu region. So, you can opt for the following:

Satellite Phones: In mountain ranges, you can’t reach the telephone signals. So, carrying a satellite phone will allow you to get help in any place. And with these you can send SOS signals in case of emergencies.

Headlamp or Torches: You don’t know what circumstances you might face on the trek. A good source of light is very reliable in case you have to trek through the night or very early in the morning. Opt for one that has a long battery life and is rechargeable.

Weather and Health monitoring devices

As you already know, physical conditions in such areas can change in the blink of an eye. Make sure to monitor the weather every minute.

Weather Apps: You can rely on the default Google Weather app or you can download some other app. The main thing is to keep track of the weather with every passing minute.

Pulse Oximeter: External things are not the only things that can harm you; monitoring your Oxygen levels, water levels and salt levels is important, too. Make sure to carry a reliable pulse oximeter and stay safe.

Photography gadgets

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is among the most fantastic places of all time. It has views that are a feast for every adventurer’s eyes. So make sure you capture it all.

Smart Camera or a Smartphone: These days, smartphone photography has gotten to a place where you can’t distinguish between DSLR photos and smartphone ones. So, you can just carry your smartphone, or if you prefer a professional camera, you can carry something small like the Sony RX100.

Tripod and Extra Storage devices: A tripod in such situations is always good to have and if for the storage, you can never tell when you’ll run out of it. Especially when you’re capturing every scene, so carry some extra SD cards and keep your memories safe.

Last Thoughts

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a dreamy place with a multitude of breathtaking scenes. But make sure you pack smartly and carry all the essentials with you.

So what are you waiting for? Book your trek today and get ready to experience an adventure that is bound to last a lifetime.
