Think Tank Photo Street Walker Harddrive DSLR Camera Backpack

Think Tank Photo brand is synonymous with the pro photographer circuit all around the world. Founded in 2005 the company’s reputation for quality and practicality has grown and grown, and they now have a product range that includes everything you could possibly need to carry audio visual equipment from belt packs and straps to rolling travel bags. The Think Tank range is more focused towards the dedicated photographer than the casual traveler, but due to the quality and practicality of their range we thought they should be included in this test.

The first thing you notice when you unpack the Street Walker Hard Drive is the quality involved in the build. The zips feel like they’re of good quality and robust and all the pockets are well made and should put up with some heavy use. The level of padding in the bag is surprisingly minimal, and at first I wasn’t confident that it would protect my DSLR, but after much use in varying circumstances I am pleasantly surprised with the results. The flexibility of the internal compartments means that you can mould the bag around your camera preventing movement and the subsequent damage. You can fit a large amount of camera lenses and accessories in the bags many compartments and there are two large zipped compartments inside the front flap that are very handy for memory cards and paperwork.

The only real criticism is that the bag’s side pockets aren’t really large enough to be useful for everyday travel and I really struggled to find a place for my laptop cable. You can just barely fit a bottle into the side pockets which is something I always carry, and I did find this frustrating.

In summary, this bag is excellent for the purpose it has been designed for. The tripod holder is a particular high light, being able to take a very large tripod if required and it provides a stable support with excellent weight stabilization. The bag is great If you like to reach a location and then unpack your camera and spend some time shooting. So this bag is ideal and for sports photographers etc . . . If, however, you like to walk and snap then the size would be prohibitive and the lack of pockets would mean using another bag for lunch, drink etc.
