Your missing a flip flop and you can’t find your sunglasses. It can only mean one thing winter is coming. Or you shouldn’t of had that green cocktail last night at the Kon Phangan Beach Party. Here in the UK winter has once again come and so we reach for our jeans and cosy fleeces and wish wearing thermal underwear was acceptable for a twenty something year old.
The onset of the cold and Wade’s recent series on Iceland made us realise that not everyone travels to warm climates and that if you really are looking for somewhere off the tourist trail many of the colder countries should be considered. Even travelling Europe towards the end of the summer months can be a chilly prospect.
With this in mind we decided to take a look at a type of garment that I always pack due to it’s versatility and comfort. We contacted some of the biggest and best manufacturers including Berghaus, Patagonia, Craghoppers and Paramo and asked them for submissions of fleeces and mid-layers designed for travel. We’ve got everything from the traditional comfy fleece to the modern hybrid mid-layers. Over the last 2 weeks we’ve been putting them through their paces both on their own and under various outer-layers to access their versatility, warmth and performance so the next time your packing for chiller climates you can be well prepared.
So keep your eyes peeled over the coming days as we post our results!
