Chorrillana

Fried potatos, onions, and hamburger meat. It is a very greasy dish which comes from the Valpariso coastal region of Chile. It is often eaten immediatley prior to a night of drinking alcohol.

Fricase de Beterraga

This is a dish that is predominately made up of fried eggs served upon a body of beets. This is a typical Latin American dish and can be found all through the region.

Pastel de Papas

This meal consists of mashed potatoes, chicken, hamburger meat, and onions baked in a dish with a layer of cheese blanketed over the top. Absolutely delicious.

Cazuela de Pollo

– Soup with chicken, potatoes, pumpkin, rice, and vegetables. This is an example of a really good soup, as it is hearty and full of food rather than being broth dominate. When travelers eat a meal they want it to be full of food!

Empanadas

– These are a classic dish of Chile. Wherever you go in the country you can be sure to find these over sized pita-pockets. They are essentially food wrapped in a shell of dough which is then baked. Types of empanadas: cheese, vegetable, hamburger, chicken, pineapple, apple, pretty much anything can be made into an empanada.
