When was the last time you went on a trip? Taking time away from your daily responsibilities can be challenging. You might have to make arrangements for your home, your job, or your kids. Still, everyone needs a getaway now and again, whether to relax or adventure.

With 2023 just starting, it’s the perfect time of year to plan a vacation. Whether you want to get away with your best friends or plan a family vacation, spending time near the ocean is sure to make everyone happy.

Whether you prefer tropical locations or cozy coastal towns, these places should be on your list of potential beach getaways. Here are five beach vacations everyone should consider in the U.S.

Key West, Florida

Want a tropical feel without going international? Key West really fits the bill. Close to the Caribbean, Key West is an ideal location for families, couples, or singles.

The waters are bright, turquoise blue, and the area is small enough that it’s easy to explore. Whether you want to spend time on the beach, check out the Hemingway house, or head out on a boat, Key West has something for everyone.

Destin, Florida

While not all the places on this list are in Florida, it is one of the best states for fun in the sun. Destin isn’t as big of a destination as Orlando or Miami, but the beaches are pristine, and the views are impeccable.

While you’re there, you can even take an excursion on the water thanks to electric boat motors that can handle the waves. Dolphins are common in the area, so boat excursions are necessary for the full experience.

San Diego, California

Live closer to the West Coast? Or are you just more interested in the Pacific Ocean? If so, then it’s time to head to the iconic beaches in San Diego. From South Mission Beach to Pacific Beach, there are many options here to explore. You can try out some surfboarding at La Jolla, where the waves get big, or head down the boardwalk on Oceanside. San Diego is also a large city with many restaurants and stores to explore. You can go to the San Diego Zoo or check out Balboa Park when you’re not spending time near the shore.

Cannon Beach, Oregon

The first three places on this list are ideal if you want to lounge in the sun or get in the surf. However, you may prefer a moodier type of beach. The Pacific Northwest boasts many gorgeous beachfront areas. While you probably won’t want to go swimming, Cannon Beach is beautiful with cliffside views and rock formations. So, if your beach vacation involves long walks and reading while it rains, head to Oregon.

Outer Banks, North Carolina

Finally, don’t forget about the well-known beaches of the East Coast. Outer Banks is known for sand dunes and lighthouses. So, when you’re looking for charming places to visit where you can check out boutique shops and walk on the beach, don’t count out North Carolina. This area is also the perfect place to try some fresh seafood.
