The following are photographs that I took in the Lake Atitlan - Panajachel region of Guatemala in the spring of 2008. They are of Mayan women in traditional clothes, volcanoes over Lake Atitlan, the market of Panajachel, a bike cargo system, and tourists in love. If you would like to look at more photos of Guatemala go to Vagabond Journey Guatemala Photographs.

Plastic baskets for sale at the market in Panajachel.

Trendy, modern outlet store in Guatemala.

Bike cargo system like the one that I used to travel by bicycle across Portugal. Just take a big plastic milk crate and strap it on to the back.

San Pedro volcano across Lake Atitlan from Panajachel in Guatemala. There are many volcanoes that can be viewed from this vantage point.

Volcanoes over Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. This is the glorious vantage point from Panajachel.

Tourists in love looking at volcanoes over Lake Atitlan.

Another photo of some of the volcanoes near Panajachel, Guatemala.

Boats in the docks of Panajachel.

Morning time restaurant being sprayed with a hose. It is common in Latin America for shopkeepers to spray the ground in front of their establishments with water in the morning. Maybe it has to do with purifying the soil around their place like in Japan, or maybe it just has to do with not wanting all of the dust from the street blowing up into their restaurant.
