Cold Rainy Days in Istanbul

Cold Rainy Days in Istanbul

I wanted a couple cold rainy days to do some website chores, not two entire weeks of cold rainy days.

But that is what I got here in Istanbul.

I thought that by traveling south, to a country on the mid-latitude point of the Mediterranean that I could find some sun and some warmth.

I thought wrong.

“The snow comes from Bulgaria,” my Syrian roommate tells me.

I don’t care where it comes from, I just want it to go away.

I have been in a cell of an apartment for the passed week without much desire or inclination to go out into a cold that is wet, and bone-chilling.

I have little difficulties dealing with cold, and I usually love the rain. But the combination of these two forces at the drawn out end of winter are making me antsy.

But today a miracle happened: I awoke to the sun passing through my bedroom window.

I have been granted one day of sun in Istanbul.

Shooting off two travelogue entries and leaving the computer behind. I am going to enjoy this gift of a day.
