Article Published in Today’s Zaman Turkish Newspaper

The article that I wrote about the Turkish motorcycle traveler, Cihan Karadag, was published yesterday in Today’s Zaman newspaper. This is the largest English language newspaper in Turkey, and has an international circulation of around 400,000.

If I have any real aspiration beyond traveling the world and writing freelance articles and this travelogue, it is that I want to be a newspaper man. An old style newspaper man with a checkered suit and a nice hat whose band is full of tickets, phone numbers, and this and that.

I want to travel the world and write for the papers. I can go to any place on the planet and live and work on $15 a day. If the economic stresses keep strangling the press like they are, perhaps I could someday soon find myself in a valuable position.

Writing newspaper articles are sort of like travelogue entries. They are short, to the point, have an all encompassing beginning that is wrapped up in the rear, and need good photos.

If I cannot start making more money writing freelance magazine and newspaper articles and publishing this travelogue, I am going to have to start knocking on the doors of full time employment. The first doors that I am going to knock on will be the newspapers.
