Piha, New Zealand

Forget about the usual white sand beach. At Piha, you can enjoy a coast with black sand, which makes it unique. Just 45 minutes away from Auckland, this is a laid back village, which is also a paradise for surfers. Aside from the beach, it is surrounded with rugged cliffs and lush greenery, making it an ideal vacation spot if you want to get close with nature. Hitchhiking is legal in New Zealand, so if you are traveling on a budget you can easily save money on transport.
