The following images are from my travels in Mongolia in the summer of 2007. They are of a train at a station in the Gobi, the main square of Zaymund-uud, the desert, the city of Ulaanbaatar, and Mongolian Buddhist temples and monasteries.

A train in Mongolia at a station in the Gobi Desert.

The main square in Zaymund-uud.

The empty Gobi desert.

Sunset over the Gobi in southern Mongolia. I rode through this desert on a train from the Chinese border.

Gherts surrounding the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar Mongolia.

The city of Ulaanbaatar. Lots of A's in this name. Good little town, decent places to eat, alright internet. It is a good stop over on the Trans-Siberian Express from Moscow to Beijing.

The outskirts of Ulaanbaatar where I found cheap lodging in a ghert hotel.

Mongolians going to the Buddhist monastery in the northern section of Ulaanbaatar. There are many benches in the courtyard and is a great place to watch the day pass.

A Buddhist stelae at a temple in Mongolia. Around this stelae are prayer wheels that people spin while saying prayers.

Mongolian Buddhist Monastery. This was a really neat place to visit and sit around drinking a bag of milk while watching people in the courtyard.
